The Elephant Sanctuary is dedicated to educating about the amazing animals in our care. We are pleased to announce the Welcome Center, located on Main Street in downtown Hohenwald, will present a multi-media presentation and informal discussion during February entitled “Tarra Turns 40” on Saturday, February 15th. The presentation will begin at 2:30 P.M. All are welcome to attend.

February 14th is not only Valentine’s Day, it is the birthday of The Sanctuary’s Founding elephant – Tarra. Tarra’s story now stretches 40 years, from Burma to Tennessee. Tarra at 40 is the same ol’ Tarra, the smoky eyed social butterfly willing to help herself to her Sanctuary sisters’ hay.

Join us as we take a look at Tarra at 40 and share some highlights from her recent past. Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to create Valentines-themed cards and crafts for Tarra. Cake will be served at 2:00, the presentation will start at 2:30. There will be no live animals at this event. The Elephant Sanctuary Welcome Center (27 East Main Street, Hohenwald, TN 38462), is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 am to 4 pm; and every third Saturday of the month from 11 am to 4 pm; other times are available by appointment.
