RIDGELAND, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway invites visitors to celebrate National Park Week at the Parkway Information Cabin on April 20, 2019. Enjoy the talents and sounds of the Natchez Trace String Band from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The Natchez Trace String Band, a small group of local acoustic musicians, will fill the cabin with the sounds of traditional folk, country, and bluegrass music.

At 10 am, join local Bob Ross certified landscape artist and park volunteer Michael Hughes as he demonstrates painting “en plain air.” Plein Air is a style of painting in which the artwork is created outside. Mr. Hughes will be painting the diverse Parkway landscape found around the Parkway Information Cabin. After a brief demonstration, inspired participants will be able to create their own piece of art to take home.

National Park Week is held each year in April to celebrate our National Parks. It is a time to explore amazing places, discover stories of history and culture, and try something new.

This program is free of charge. The Parkway Information Cabin (milepost 102.4) is located approximately one mile north of I-55 at exit 105A, or just east of the intersection of Rice Road and Highway 51. For additional information, call (601) 856-7321.
