The Natchez Trace String Band to Perform at the Parkway Information Cabin
RIDGELAND, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway invites visitors to enjoy the talents and sounds of local musicians at the Parkway Information Cabin on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
Natchez Trace Parkway Closed from Milepost 429 to 442 Northern Terminus
Effective immediately, officials have closed the Natchez Trace Parkway motor road between the northern terminus at Highway 100 (milepost 442) to Highway 46 (milepost 429), Pinewood Road in Leipers Fork, Tennessee. The closure is necessary due to snow and a winter storm advisory forecast of freezing rain. The duration of the closure is undetermined at this time. Parkway officials will work to reopen the area as soon as possible.
Junior Ranger Program: Predator or Prey Owl Program
The Natchez Trace Parkway invites children and their families to “Predator or Prey: Guess Who Has Talons” a new Junior Ranger program to be held at the Parkway Visitor Center on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 am.
Pavement Problems for Mississippi Travelers
The Natchez Trace Parkway cautions visitors about pavement problems in the Mississippi section of the Parkway. Extreme drought over the late summer caused severe cracking and movement of the parkway motor road surface in many areas.
Dan Overly Boardwalk in Ridgeland
The Dan Overly Boardwalk in Ridgeland connects the Mississippi Craft Center and the Natchez Trace Parkway. The boardwalk provides access to the cultural, historical and recreational assets of the Natchez Trace/Reservoir area.

Natchez Trace Parkway Freezing Fog Advisory
A traveler advisory is in effect for a large portion of north Mississippi and the southern sections of west Tennessee from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 am Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Freezing fog has developed, and the below freezing temperatures during the early morning hours could cause some slick road conditions especially on elevated surfaces.

The Natchez Trace Parkway presented federal service awards to Maintenance Mechanic’s George McBride (45 years) and Forrest McCrary (40 years).
Controlled Burning in Lee and Pontotoc Counties, MS
Natchez Trace Parkway will conduct two prescribed fires (controlled burns) on Thursday, December 15 and Friday, December 16. The Lakeside prescribed fire in Lee County, MS and the Blackbelt Prairie prescribed fire in Pontotoc County, MS will help to restore native black prairie and reduce vegetation along the parkway boundary that could burn in a wildfire.
