Natchez Trace Parkway Read with a Ranger Program: “Swamp Where Gator Hides”
This month’s featured story is “Swamp Where Gator Hides,” a fun book that introduces young listeners to the concepts of camouflage and predator-prey interactions. Children and their families are encouraged to come enjoy the Read with a Ranger program at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the Parkway Visitor Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Hernando de Soto’s Encampment Came to Life at the Natchez Trace Parkway
The Natchez Trace Parkway hosted a living history encampment representing the expedition of Hernando de Soto, who traveled through this area in 1540-41. The programs took place on Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23 at the Parkway Visitor Center.
Historic Home Temporarily Closed along the Natchez Trace Parkway
The Natchez Trace Parkway temporarily closed the Historic Mount Locust Inn until the structure can be stabilized, and visitors can safely view the house. Repair work on the historic home will begin soon.
New Hours for Tupelo Visitor Center
Beginning on Sunday, October 1, 2017, the Parkway Visitor Center at milepost 266, just north of Tupelo, Mississippi, will be open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm seven days per week.

The Natchez Trace Parkway Announces Revised Fall Hours for Mount Locust Inn and Plantation
Beginning Monday September 18, 2017, the Mount Locust Inn and Plantation site along the Natchez Trace Parkway will be open seven days a week from9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
