RIDGELAND, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway will be hosting a special event on Saturday, May 4 starting at 7 a.m. Approximately 900 bicyclists will ride in both directions along the Parkway from the Ridgeland Information Cabin, near milepost 102, to as far north as Highway 16 near milepost 135.

Drivers should be on the lookout for bicyclists and obey all traffic laws, including the Mississippi Three Foot Move Over law, which requires drivers to give at least three feet of clearance when passing a bicyclist on a roadway. Both drivers and bicyclists should be respectful and courteous to each other and drivers are reminded this is a National Park and a designated bicycle route.

“Rangers will be on patrol to enforce the Three Foot Move Over law and other traffic laws during the event,” stated Supervisory Park Ranger Stephen Dollinger. “Our goal is for everyone to have a safe ride and enjoyable day.” Drivers should expect delays during the event and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

In case of an emergency or to report a hazard please contact Natchez Trace Parkway Communications at 1-800-300-PARK (7572) or 911.
