Nestled along the Tennessee River, Sheffield, Alabama, has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1815. General Andrew Jackson and his troops followed the Military Road as they crossed the Tennessee River. This crossing site, which is still called Jackson Hollow today, would become the deciding spot to establish a town – that town being Sheffield, Alabama.

Sheffield features three historic districts with antebellum and Victorian-era buildings. The rich music heritage goes back to the 1950’s when new fad Rock n’ Roll music began to sweep the nation and the roots of Jazz were being established as an American tradition. Many top songwriters and performers cut vinyl at Jackson Highway Studio and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. You’ll love exploring of rich history of Tuscumbia along the Natchez Trace Parkway!
