Natchez Trace Parkway Announces Free Junior Ranger Programs, June 2013

(TUPELO, MS)– The Natchez Trace Parkway will begin Junior Ranger programs at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center on June 1, 2013. The programs will be conducted Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. and will cover natural and cultural history topics that are related to the Natchez Trace Parkway. Parkway programs are free to the public and are most appropriate for children ages 7-12.

Natchez Trace Parkway to Initiate the Public Scoping Process for Little Swan Creek Bridge Replacement

The National Park Service is seeking public comment on the proposed replacement of the Little Swan Creek Bridge, located at milepost 386.9 in Lewis County, Tennessee. The bridge must be replaced in order to restore the original structural capacity of the bridge, to provide visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience, and to reduce maintenance requirements and costs.

Natchez Trace Parkway to Celebrate 75 Years with Music, Memories, and Fun

TUPELO, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway will celebrate 75 years as a national park on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The free, family-oriented event will feature live music, dozens of exhibitors and historical personas, dignitaries, children’s activities, classic cars and much more. Festivities will be held at the Parkway Visitor Center, located just north of Tupelo on the Natchez Trace Parkway at milepost 266.

Natchez Trace Parkway Rangers Seek Help to Identify Suspect from March 2013 Assault on Bicyclist

MS – On March 17, 2013, a bicyclist traveling on the Natchez Trace Parkway north of Tupelo near Friendship Hill Road, was physically assaulted by an unidentified person, who left the scene. The bicyclist was hospitalized with severe injuries and his bicycle was also damaged.
