The Natchez Trace Ranked in the Top 10 Most-Visited Places of the National Park System in 2011

The Natchez Trace Compact is excited to announce that the Natchez Trace Parkway was just ranked in the Top 10 Most-Visited Units of the National Park System in 2011 by National Parks Traveler.

In 2011, the Natchez Trace saw 5,765,343 visitors! This historic, 444-mile scenic parkway links Natchez with Nashville and crosses some of the most beautiful terrain in the states of Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. The Parkway has been declared a National Scenic Byway and an All-American Road and has been chosen as one of America’s 10 best biking roads.

In 2010 the Natchez Trace was ranked on National Parks Traveler Top 10 Most-Visited list, and it is a great achievement to be ranked once again.

Open year-round for motorists, hikers and bikers, it provides visitors the opportunity for an unhurried trip through time. Maintained and administered by the National Park Service, the Parkway is headquartered in Tupelo, MS.

The Compact’s primary objective is to attract more visitors to travel the Parkway and take the time to explore all there is to see and do along the way. We promote visitation to the communities located on either side of the historic route, and we are happy to see the Natchez Trace ranked in the Top 10 Most-Visited Places of the National Park System in 2011.
