TUPELO, MS – The National Park Service and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service partnered to hold a Naturalization Ceremony in celebration of the creation of the National Park Service on August 23, 2019. The ceremony welcomed 14 new citizens to the United States as they took the Oath of Allegiance at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center.
“National parks began with the idea that America’s greatest natural treasures belong to everyone and forever need to be preserved,” stated Sarah Davis, Chief Ranger at the Natchez Trace Parkway. “Our public lands tell the story of this great nation and of its diverse people. It is a privilege to welcome these new citizens as the National Park Service commemorates our 103rd birthday.”
Since 2006, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and National Park Service have partnered to welcome thousands of new citizens in parks around the country and celebrate their new status in our country’s beautiful landmarks.
