Natchez Trace Parkway Hosts Family Fun Day

TUPELO, MS – The Natchez Trace Parkway invites children and their families to “Family Fun Day,” a Junior Ranger event to be held at the Parkway Visitor Center on Saturday, July 20, 2019, from 10 am to 1 pm. Join us and learn about bats, bees, the National Park Service, and more! You will go home with tips, tricks, and ideas for improving your backyard habitat. The schedule of events are:

·        10 am – Symbols of National Parks  

·        11 am – Buzzing with Bees

·        Noon – Bats: Nocturnal Sky Babies  

All programs are presented by the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) a group of local students working this summer at the Parkway. The YCC are students, ages between 15-18 years old, have been assisting with multiple projects throughout the summer. This event will help round out their experience as they prepare to go back to school and eventually off to college.

Each Junior Ranger program is 45-minutes and is most appropriate for children 7 to 12 years old, but everyone is welcome. Participants will be able to talk with a park ranger and join in a fun hands-on activity or craft. Junior Ranger programs feature various topics on the third Saturday of the month.
