Tishomingo County has more shoreline than any other county in the state. Pickwick Lake is 43,100 acres with a shoreline of 490 miles. Bay Springs Lake is 6,600 acres with 133 miles of shoreline. The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway is 300 feet wide by a minimum of 9 feet deep and is 234 miles long. The Tenn-Tom Waterway connects the Tennessee River and Pickwick Lake to the Tombigbee River and then to the Gulf of Mexico at Mobile. The divide section of the Tenn-Tom Waterway is the largest earth moving project in Corps of Engineers history, involving more earth moving than the Panama Canal.
