Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month
Join the Natchez Trace Parkway in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month! National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place between September 15 – October 15, 2012.
You can join in on the celebration by attending the history encampment representing the expedition of Hernando de Soto on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center.
The encampment will be set up outside the Visitor Center from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Through stories, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, you can learn about Hernando de Soto’s interactions with the Chickasaw Indians along the historic Natchez Trace during the winter of 1540-41. This will be an educational and fun event for all!
We invite the public to come out to this free event and honor the contributions of Hispanic Americans and to celebrate the traditions of our Hispanic American community.
The Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center is located along the Parkway at milepost 266, near Tupelo, Mississippi. For more information, click here. We hope to see you there!
